Aura is a 'life catalyst' that was given to the people of Jord by the Creator when he defeated the Old Terrors after The Break. It is what allowed mankind to fight The Veil and make them the dominant force on the planet. A person who can use the Aura is called a Redder or a Blue. A person without any Aura powers is called a Drab.

The Aura is a conduit to access our inherent human powers, that were bestowed to us by the Creator.

Aura is classified based on the feeling you get when you use it. There are currently two known Aura types.


Aura Vessels[edit]

Aura vessels are bestowed on the individual by the Creator and cannot be artificially added (not yet at least). There are three stages of Aura vessels, each granting a specific amount of power

  • Complete circulatory system - usually, but not always, accompanied by an affinity for power, this allows a person to generate and use Aura
  • Closed circulatory system - Scarlets usually the person does not have an affinity for Aura, but can use it via exShards (with SteelShards)
  • None - a Drab has no power, nor any chance to use it

In Stakhlian each child is checked upon birth what their circulatory system is by a local Pater. They prick their finger. If the wound steams (but does not heal, due to the child's age) the child has a complete circulatory system. If the wound heals after an exShard is placed next to the skin, then the person has a closed circulatory system. If nothing happens, the person is a Drab.

Red Aura[edit]

Red is the most known and used power. It is synonymous for power and strength as it gives the person who wields it incredible power. It enhances their muscles, sharpens their reflexes and gives them incredible healing power. A Redder may have a sword piercing their heart, but as long as they have a reserve of Red circulating their system, they can fight on.

Red is replenished by fighting, which is why most of the larger cities in Stakhlian have a Red Arena. Red also has the capability to recharge SteelShards, which are used as sources of power and an alternate payment method.

Blue Aura[edit]

Blue Aura is much more mysterious as most of the time it is only the Prophets that feel the effects. As such the powers described are from the recollections of Amaris Truséle.

The main power is the ability to extend all five senses. It comes with extreme focus and rational thinking. The Blue only works when one feels confident and is felt like a creature is stirring inside them, eager to escape at the first chance it gets (when it feels weakness). When the person is confident it enhances that feeling, up to the point of arrogance and a superiority complex.

How it Felt[edit]

Blue impression:She couldn’t see it, but she heard it as a hum in the air. Red impression: The air felt like wind, circling the person constantly.

Once the healing begins it expends the entire amount, even if it heals a single cut. It's like a triggered event that happens when you reach a certain stored amount of Blue
