AMEND HOW IT LOOKS LIKE AMEND HOW IT LOOKS LIKE

A SteelShard is a small rectangular piece of alien metal, cold to the touch, which has an inscribed rune on it, which means 'Strength of Will'. It holds a modest amount of Red Aura, which may be converted to an even smaller amount of Blue Aura. For a SteelShard to push the Aura, it needs to have the Rune side towards the metal/recipient otherwise the Aura is stuck.

  • Othala: It looks like a skewed arrow point. It channels Red out of the SteelShard and is why us Scarlets can use it.
  • Ice: a basic straight line. That rune channels Red into the Shard

History[edit]

The SteelShards were discovered practically everywhere where humans lived and even some places where humans didn't. Historians surmise that grand battles took place there and the SteelShards were carried by the Creator's Luminous Order. Early finders would stockpile them and use them as weights or adornments, until a Redder would pass by to inform them of their value (and possibly steal them). As the fight against the Veil escalated and more Redders were called to the battle, SteelShard use started increasing around arena's and places of (organized) conflict.

SteelShards circulate Stakhlian frequently, from farmers/industrialist/common man, to the arena, where it would get charged and then back again.

Use[edit]

The SteelShard may be used as an alternative currency and has a limited supply in the world. It is used in various exShards and as fuel for Scarlets.

Conduit[edit]

A conduit SteelShard is a defaced Steelshard and can be used by a Redder to push Aura into an object/someone else. The two extra lines on the rune allow the Aura to travel and the exact layout of the lines is very important and need to follow sink lines in the SteelShard. Each conduit is a bit different as the sink lines are never at the same location.

Behaviour[edit]

When a Drab touches the Steelshard, he shall feel no other properties and the SteelShard will feel as any other piece of metal, with the exception that it never becomes hot (it does become warm in your hand).

A Redder will feel the SteelShard as warm and fiery, almost too hot to handle. The small Aura glow around it looks like a flame that is blowing towards them. The SteelShard becomes hotter if the power intake is quick.

A Blue will feel the Steelshard as cold and sharp, the glow pushing away as if the Aura is trying to escape. The Blue needs to break a wall before the Red can be harnessed and molded into Blue. This requires a lot of energy, so much of the Red is diminished.

Old Description[edit]

A piece of rune-inscribed metal that holds an Aura charge indefinitely. Produces a modest white glow to an Aura user. Steelshards allow people that have a closed circulatory Aura Vessel system to use Aura. The magic runes inscribed act as gateways and push the Aura into the person. To achieve this, the Steelshard needs to be orientated properly and have constant full contact with the skin of the person. It takes years to master this technique.

When a SS is out of Aura, it is ‘dim’.

When a Blue absorbs a SS Aura, they don’t feel the cool surface of the metal, but rather warmness. The Aura visibly flickers away from them, as if trying to escape the conversion from Red>> Blue.
