Colonization[edit]

The Asylum stopped at Heringbrough station the next day. The small train hub lied near the ocean Lazuli, God's purgatory between the Archipelago of Hope and the Colonies. The place where the pioneers disembarked. It was the first landfall they discovered after God knows how long of searching. The Archipelago of Hope was dying, the sea rising past its shores. Parts of it were already underwater by the time the first ships left. Only a handful of priests and consorts remained, praying to God for salvation. The colonists erected tents at first, then built houses from the ships that carried them there. The colonization was a one-way trip. They never expected they weren’t alone in the new land, that God had cursed the land. The first settlers lost many numbers when they first encountered the Gorehounds. When they first confronted the horror. Peace followed for a brief period. God knows why. The monsters left them alone and the brightest minds from the Church Scriptorium banded together. They created a modular track laying system – a railroad that constructed itself. Now, their entire civilization was on the run, riding the train simply to keep alive.
